Reverse Advent: The calendar that gives something back

The congregation at St Mary’s are joining with hundreds of others in the area to support the One Can Reverse Advent Calendar. It’s a really fun way to count down the days ’til Christmas and a great way to help those in need in our community. Why not join us?

This is what One Can are asking:

We are asking that you, your family, group, organisation, or workplace pop a food item or a coin in a supermarket bag for life from the 1st December – 24th December and bring it to us at our food store on one of our opening days.  We’ll be opening the food bank doors on Thursday 19th December to coincide with the end of school term, Saturday 21st December and also Christmas Eve.  Our volunteers will be ready to accept your donations, show you around and tell you a little about the food bank.

This year again we are asking you to pack your reverse advent calendar into bag(s) for life rather than boxes so that we can reuse them for our food parcels.  This avoids us having to recycle large amounts of cardboard (and of course saves 10p a bag).

You can find out the full details and where to take your ‘reverse calendar’ on the One Can web site.
