Recently we had a e-mail from Ivor Clucas who has acquired the accounts book for Radnage Rectory kept by Rev Charles William Tonyn for the period of 1767 to 1775. He has produced a transcript of the accounts and copies are now held by St Mary’s and the The Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies in Aylesbury. However, he is willing to do look ups for individuals who think they might have had relatives working for the Rector during that period or been trades people in the village. The surnames in the accounts include STONE, BOWDERY, HUNT, DORMER, WELLS, TAYLER, NEWELL, BRITNALL, SALE, SEAL, HELEY, JENKINSON, HOWLAND and there are many others. The trades include taylors, builders, gardeners, surgeons, apothecary, coal merchants, millers, maltsters, carriers, butchers, grocers, collar makers, shoemakers, seedsmen etc., etc.
You can get in touch with Ivor by e-mail at ivor.clucas @ tiscali.co.uk - (leaving out the spaces)
